Bath Time

Marley loves to take baths, she just sits there in the sink and lets me do my thing. She really loves to get her hair washed. Marley got a little robe from a friend that I work with. I just had to see how she would look in it. She is still a little to small for it but she looked so cute in it.

Photo shoot with mommy

Today is a slow day. I did all the house cleaning yesterday and Marvin is sick with a cold that has been floating around; so we are just laying around today. I got a little board and decided to take some pictures of Marley. She is a month old today and I'm not to sure how I feel about that. I'm happy that she is growing but I'm also sad because I want her to stay little. She is so much fun!

Pictures of Marley

We just love our little girl and want to share all the pretty pictures of her. She loves to be with her daddy, puppies and is a VERY good sleeper as you can tell by the pictures : ) I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we do.

She is here!!

Marley wasn't due until October 6th, but we decided to induce on September 30th, so we could make sure that Marvin would be able to be with me. We talked to our doctor and he told us that the hospital will call us as soon as they had room for us. So, we went home and waited for the hospital to call. We went to bed at 7:00pm to try and get some sleep but it didn't really work out the way we wanted it to. I think I fell asleep around 10:00pm it was worse than Christmas. It was kinda funny because Marvin and I woke up at 12:45am and checked the clock. Marvin checked his phone to make sure it wasn't on silent, and as soon as he put it down we got a phone call saying they were ready for us to come in. We got dressed, grabbed our bag and headed out.
When we got the the hospital, they had us fill a bunch of paper work, and hooked me up to some monitors to check on Marley and my contractions. At 2:30am they started the medicine to start my labor. I took on the contractions until it was uncomfortable and then I decided it was time for an epidural. I wanted to make sure that I was able to be still for the medicine. The nurse told me that I got it at the right time. I told Marvin "I'm not going in to prove that I can be a super woman and handle the contractions I want to be able to enjoy the delivery and make sure that our baby is nice and healthy". I was so happy with the way things worked out because as soon as that medicine kicked in I was so much more comfortable. I was able to rest and get the sleep that I need for the delivery.
One time during my many naps that day I was woken up by a group of nurses yelling at me to roll over. They were all in a hurry and every one was telling me to do something. I was so scared because they wouldn't tell me what was going on. Marvin was by my side telling me that everything would be OK because I had a blessing the night before. After everything settled down they told me that Marley's heartbeat went way low and my blood pressure went really low. They needed me to change positions and they gave me some medicine to help her get better. Later we found out that her cord was wrapped around her neck and she got down to low and the cord was getting tighter on her neck. Everything went back to normal and I was able to relax a little more. I was so happy to have Marvin was by my side supporting me and keeping me calm.
At 2:30pm the nurses came in and told me it was time to start pushing. Marley was born at 2:57pm. She weighed 8 lbs 8.9 ounces and she was 20 1/4 inches long. The delivery went really well. There were no complications and she is very healthy. The nurses just loved her. Everyone that came into our room commented on how pretty she was. Marley loves to cuddle and she is sleeping all night. We are so blessed to have her in our little family and we look forward to watching her grow. We love you Marley!!!

On Sunday September 26th, Marvin and I decided to get some pictures done before Marley was born. We had Family dinner with the Lunt family and asked Amy if she could take some pictures of us. So we headed over to the church and took some pictures. They turned out really good, and they didn't even cost us a dime : ) Thank you Amy!!

A New Experience

Today I had a new experience with Marley. I was sitting at work and I started feeling Marley move around. I stopped what I was doing and realized that she wasn't stopping like she usually does after finding a comfy spot. Then my tummy started jumping. That's when I realized she had the hiccups. She had them for a good couple of minutes and then it stopped. It was so fun to watch. I am thankful that our father in heaven has sent her into our lives. I can't wait to meet her.

A Trip to the Animal Hospital

Marvin and I decided to have date night early. We usually have date night on Friday but for some reason we decided to go early. We went and got our food and brought it home. After we finished eating I was a little tired so I decided to go lay down. Marvin decided he was going to take a shower so he would sleep better. While I left the front room to go into the bedroom to turn the TV on, Brick and Rusty decided they wanted to play. I didn't really think anything of it because they are always playing. I turned the TV on and then all of a sudden I heard the loudest heartbreaking cry I have ever heard. I ran to the front room and saw Rusty under our coffee table crying. It took me a good 2 minutes to get him calmed down. I put Rusty down to see if he would eventually put weight on his leg but that was out of the question. As soon as Marvin was done he check Rusty's leg. He thought it was broken, I thought he just jammed his foot or something. We talked about it for a few minutes then decided to take him in and get it checked. I'm really glad that they have 24 hour Animal Hospitals. Once we got there we filled out paperwork and than it took about 1 1/2 hours before they even got to us because there were so many other animals worse off than Rusty. I was really surprised at how well Rusty handled the situation. He just cuddled up on my lap and laid there. It broke my heart to know that my baby was in so much pain.

We finally got into a room and the doctor came in to look at him. It turns out that the doctor that checked Rusty was one of Marvin's distant cousins. He took one look at Rusty and said right away that his leg was broken. So the doctor took him to the back and took some Xrays. Sure enough it was broken. Rusty broke both of his bones in his leg straight across. Doctor Lunt said that Rusty's break was in a good spot and a good break. He said most likely that it would be healed with a cast. So they gave Rusty some pain meds and put a splint on his leg. After 3 hours of being at the animal hospital it was time to go home.

Doctor Lunt wanted us to go see a specialist to make sure that Rusty's leg could be healed with a cast. So we made an appointment to get him checked. Lets just say that for Rusty to get his broken leg fixed properly cost the same amount as Marley. It's insane how much they charge for those things. Even a cast was out of our price range. We talked to the specialist and decided that the only thing we could do for Rusty is keep him in a splint and hope it heals right. They said that there is a chance it won't heal properly and that he might have to get his leg amputated. So Rusty is on strict bed rest for 8 weeks and if it doesn't heal and we have to amputate his leg we will love him just the same.

Poor little guy : (

One Year ALREADY?!

It's crazy how fast time flys by. Last year at this time I was getting all my things ready to go to Manti Utah. I was so excited because the day was just around the corner. It felt like forever since I had seen Marvin and I couldn't wait to see him again. It was down to the night before the big day. Both families had made it safely to Manti and it was going to be the first time that my family met his family. We decided to go out to dinner so they could get to now each other. We had a BLAST. At least Marvin and I did I'm not sure about the rest of them. I think from the time I said goodnight to Marvin I was asking my parents 10000 questions of things that could happen and things that were going to happen. I remember laying in bed at the motel and asking my dad "Wouldn't it be funny if Marvin got to the temple at the same time as us and we got to walk in the temple together" He would just laugh and say yeah it would be. It took me forever to go to sleep. It was worse than Christmas.

Morning finally came and it was time to go to the temple. We pulled up and parked the car and as we were walking to the side walk I looked over and Marvin and his parents were walking up next to us. I just started laughing. We walked into the temple hand in hand. As we sat in the room waiting for the ceremony to start I looked over and saw that there were only 2 empty chairs.

(Side Story) For those of you that know my Grandpa Clyde you would know that for all of his grandchildren married in the temple he waited patiently to greet them at the door to congratulate them. My Grandpa died a couple of years before we were married and I remember thinking how sad I was going to be because I wouldn't be able to hug my grandpa when I came out of the temple. I like to think that I was a little special because grandpa Clyde's temple work was done before I got married so I was the first grandchild that got to have him in the temple with me. I know that he sat in one of those chairs and was soo proud to see us there. I also had a cousin her name was Shannon. I idealised her. She was my hero. When I was little she was killed in a car wreck. I remember hearing my aunt Berta being afraid that I would forget her but there is no way that anyone would be able to forget such an amazing person!. I know that she was sitting in the other chair next to Grandpa Clyde. It was the coolest experience and I'm thankful for all the family that was there to share it with us.

After the ceremony we came out and took lots of pictures. It was very cold and cloudy. As soon as all the family pictures were taken we let them leave to get ready to head to Provo for a lunch in, while we stayed behind to get some couple pictures. We were able to get a couple of them and then it started snowing to much so we had to call it good.

Our Skillin Family
Our Lunt Family

We got our pictures taken and headed to Provo for lunch. I think we were the last ones to get there but it was fun to walk in and see all of our family cheer when we came in the room. The food was tasty and it was fun to visit and meet new family. After the luncheon we rushed home for the reception. Everything was decorated beautifully and we had fun visiting with guests.

It really is amazing how fast it went but there are many other things we did besides get married. We were blessed to have loving parents. Marvin's parents were very kind and bought a house for Marvin and I to fix up and live in. While we were fixing it up they let us live with them for 3 months. Some days it was a challenge but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I was able to bond with my in laws and became very close to them. My parents were able to come visit and help us a little on the house.

Marvin and I were able to go to a couple of family reunions, a missionary fairwell, a missionary homecoming, a baptism, and we even held a couple of yard sales.

We where able to attend my brothers wedding in August and in December we were able to visit my family to welcome our newest addition. Jasmin Ray.

Everyone says that the first year is the hardest but looking back on our first year I would have to disagree with them. Marvin is my best friend and I'm so thankful that I am sealed to him forever. We have a beautiful home, 2 fun friendly dogs, and our little family will be welcoming a new addition in October. The Lord has truly blessed us and we are so Thankful for them.
