A Gift from Heaven

One reason we left to go to Wyoming was because my youngest brother Andy and his wife Desi were going to have there baby. We tried really hard to make it to the hospital before Jasmin was born. We were in Provo Utah when we got the phone call saying that she was here. I was a little sad but I was happy when we made it there safely. Jasmin Ray Skillin was born Dec 8Th 2009, and she was 7 lbs 12 ounces.

Andy wanted to make sure she was comfy so he put her head on a little hat for a cushion

Aunt Sarah and Uncle Marvin holding Jasmin a few hours after she was born.

Answered Prayers!!

Well it's been almost a complete month since I have last updated my blog and thought it was time to get caught up. On Dec 7 Marvin and I started our "fun" little journey to Kemmerer Wyoming. It started to rain a little while we were heading out but we thought it would be ok and continued our journey.

Rusty and Brick in the back seat.

Everything was going great until we got up into the mountains and it started snowing. The roads were icy and as we were heading up the hill behind a semi truck when they decided to stop. We ended up getting stuck going up. The Highway patrolmen where there helping one other car that had slid off the road not to far in front us. The patrolmen then came over to our car and told us if we didn't get going again soon he was going to give us a ticket for blocking the road. Then he drove off. We said a quick prayer and Marvin got out to push. About 1 hour later we got going again with no help from anyone on the road and no ticket. As I was driving down the side of the mountain we got stuck in a traffic jam. There had been a wreck. We sat there for almost 2 hours and then we started to go again. About 5 min into the ride we had to stop for another wreck. After another hour or so we finally got to go. We got behind a Semi truck and drove under 20 miles the rest of the way to flagstaff. We had the plan to exit and go back home but none of the exits had been plowed and the other side of the road was just as bad as the one we were on so we just kept going. When we left Phoenix it was about 10:30am and by the time we got to flagstaff it was 5:00pm. Marvin wanted me to drive because of my previous experience in the snow. I had white knuckles the whole trip. In Flagstaff it was snowing so bad they couldn't keep the roads clear so everyone was sliding and getting stuck. We decided to get a motel room so Marvin called a motel that would let us have dogs and got us a room. As we were driving to the motel we slid through 1 red light and another time almost slid off the road. We finally found our motel but the parking lot was full of snow and I couldn't make the turn so I decided to go to the one next door thinking I would be able to turn around. That was a big mistake!! We got stuck trying to make the turn. Marvin went in to get some help and we were able to make it out. Marvin and I got turned around and headed to our motel and got stuck making the turn into there parking lot. We finally got unstuck and into our room. I handed Marvin the keys and told him I was done! Later that night we said a prayer to thank Heavenly Father that we made it safely. We also found out from Momma Lunt that there had been like 65 injury accidents on the road that we had just been on and like 300 people had to be towed. Our prayers had been answered. This trip really strengthened my testimony on prayer. When we woke up we looked out the window to see our car bared in snow. We waited for the sun to un thaw everything out a little bit and then we were on the road again.

When we went to bed the parking lot was plowed

Christmas light galore!!

On Monday Marvin and I looked up some neat houses that decorate a lot for Christmas and decided to go look at them for our family home evening. It was really exciting some houses had every inch of there house lite up with lights. Others had music that was synced to their lights. Our last stop was the Mesa temple. It was really beautiful and peaceful.

These houses would be really fun to take kids to.

Mesa Temple

We even got a picture of our lights hopefully we can put more up : )

It's the most wonderful time of the year!!

I've been a little busy getting some Holiday projects done and I have finally finished them today!! A few days ago we went to Amy's, she let me use her saw to cut out some wooden stars for our tree. Once we got them all cut out she let us use some paint to paint them. She is sooo nice!! Thank you Amy. It took me a couple of days but I got them all done. here are some pictures of what they look like. There are three different colors with multiple sayings.

We also made some pinecone ornaments out of some wild pinecones we found at our family reunion.Virginia gave us a log that had some christmas decorations on it and we gave it a facelift. It's one of my favorite Christmas decorations that we have!
Marvin was very excited to get our Christmas tree up so we put it up on the 25th. Here is a picture of what it looks like with our home made decorations. We did have about 12 ornaments that are not home made. We found them at Michaels my new favorite store!

We have also put up some lights out side but you will have to wait untill it gets dark for those pictures. : )

Our Little Theif

So Rusty has to eat a different food than Brick because if they eat each others food they get sick. Rusty really likes the Bricks food and even though he can't eat it. He still trys to sneak it. The other day Marvin caught Rusty sneaking some food from Brick.

Sweaters in Phoenix?

When I first met Marvin I never thought that it was possible to be cold in Phoenix. I figured that when it was in the 60's that it would still be short season. I have lived here long enough to think that when it is in the 60's it's time to bust out the sweaters. For a couple of days last week it was time to wear a sweater. Poor Rusty was shivering so I put his little sweater on him. Don't worry it's back up in the 90's again so for my family in wyoming you don't have to worry about us freezing to death. haha

Isn't he cute!!

Fun Filled Family Weekend

On October 23, Marvin and I packed the car to head to a family reunion. This will be our 3rd family reunion this year. It was pretty fun. We stayed in a house that Rod had built. This reunion was for Rod and Virginia and their children. The first day we went for a ride to Prescott. Rod and Virginia stopped with Nate and Tarin to got some food to take into the mountains for a pic nick; while Amy followed us into the mountains to get a good spot to eat. The ride was beautiful. A lot of the trees had changed for fall. Marvin had Amy follow us up to a look out spot. We were able to get some pictures.

Our little family
Amy and 3 of her kids. Garrett was with Nate and Tarin, and Robert was at school.

We found a really nice area to eat our lunch. It was surrounded by fall trees. We even got to get some cute family pictures with the fall leaves.

Brick even let us take a picture

This one is priceless. Sydni was great until I got down and she started screaming.

After the lunch we decided to head back to the house. When we got back Marvin and I took a nap along with a couple others. Then it was dinner time. Virginia had made chili beans. It was great!
Carson and Sydni enjoying dinner

Nate and Tarin's little puppy Dave was so cute eating dinner. He put his 2 front paws in the dish so he could eat and he kept scooting the bowl around the floor.

We sat around and talked. Then Marvin wanted to take the dogs for a walk so we got our dogs ready to go. Robert and Bubba came along. It was nice to have some quiet time with Marvin. With the house being empty the sound of kids and dogs get extra louder. When we got back we decided to play a nice game of clue, or so we thought. With the Lunt boys it's almost impossible to play a game where we can just except what is going on. They are so competitive. To give you an idea: Me and Marvin played monopoly with Nate and Tarin. At the end of the game I had all the properties and most of the money. Nate had just given me his last property and all he had was $10. He argued that he could still win because he might be able to buy back his property. yeah that's how it is. You can ask Tarin. : )

The next day it was time to go home and get ready for church. We had all decided to go to Amy's ward because her Children were having their primary program. So we packed the car. Rusty rode home in his kennel and Brick found a spot that did look that comfy.

Yep He decided to ride home on top of Rusty's Kennel.

Babysitting for Amy

A couple weeks ago we babysat for Robert and Amy while they went to a concert. The kids had fun playing with Rusty and Brick and they were just so cute I couldn't help but take pictures.

Carson just loves Rusty

You can tell by this picture that Rusty feels the same way : )

I think Garrett had fun with the dogs to

Our little Brick is growing up

There comes a time in every puppies life when they start to lose their baby teeth and begin to get their big dog teeth. We are so "happy" that Brick is going through this stage because not only is he losing his teeth he is also chewing on EVERYTHING!!! Lets just say that we are going to be really happy when Brick gets out of his chewing stage!

who would have known that something so little can do so much damage

The first victim of Bricks teeth.. our only kitchen chair

My favorite headband was also bricks favorite chew toy

Along with my only pair of work shoes. (They used to have a strap that went across the top)

He had this toy for 2 days before this happened.

Rusty's toy now has multiple ear piercings

Marvin used to have a black headset for his game before brick chewed the cords off.

yep he even opened a bag of cement and had a snack on a good portion of it.

We really love our little chewer but we will be extremely happy when he grows out of this stage.

I GOT A JOB!!!!!!!

Last week I decided that I was going to go to every place I could think of to get a job. We went to the mall and I went to every store that I would possibly like to work at. I went home with a stack of applictations and filled them all out. I had an interview at Bath and Body works on monday and they called me today to start work on Friday. I'm really excited it's only a part time seasonal job but they told me if I do a good job and if I want to stay on they will keep me on. So my plan is to work hard and get a full time job out of it.

Their Favorite Toy

A couple of days ago Marvin and I went for a ride to find some boulders to put in our front yard. As we were out walking around I found a couple of interesting rock laying on the ground. I thought they were kinda pretty so I picked them up and brought them home. Little did we know that these rocks were going to be the cheapest dog toy we have ever had. Brick started playing with the rock first and then Rusty.

Our New Baby Boy

Last month Amy (Marvin's sister) called and told us that there was a stray puppy that showed up at her house. I had been wanting to get a friend for Rusty and Marvin told me I could get one as long as it was free and was potty trained. So I got pretty excited when Amy called. She sent us pictures as I talked Marvin into letting us keep him. When we got to Amy's house we found out that Sydni had named him Brick. We waited to see if anyone would claim him and since it has been a month I'm sure he is here to stay for good. He is potty trained and he can sit and lay down. Marvin and I are teaching him how to shake at the moment. Brick is a good puppy and we are very happy that we could give him a loving home. : )

He didn't want me to take his picture
